Watching versus Doing

Those Who Can, Do. Those Who Can’t, Watch.
SOME DEFINITIONS
Dictionary.com defines doing as:
- action; performance; execution
Dictionary.com defines watching as:
- to keep under attentive view or observation, as in order to see or learn something; view attentively or with interest
WHAT DO I MEAN HERE?
Doers are people who take action. They may or may not know how to do something, but they don’t just sit back and watch. At some point, they get off their rear-ends and do something.
Watchers on the other hand sit back and observe the actions of doers. Sometimes this can be a good thing, as watching gives us an opportunity to learn.
SO, WHAT’S WRONG WITH WATCHING?
Nothing is wrong with watching, PROVIDED AT SOME POINT, we stop watching and start doing. It’s only when we get caught in the trap of just sitting back and observing others that our life will pass us by.
While observing is important, doing is a vital part of life. If we don’t do anything, we might as well not have lived.
ARE YOU A DOER, A WATCHER, OR A LITTLE BIT OF BOTH?
The balance between doing and watching is just that, a balance.
In order for any system to be in balance, we must decrease everything that is excessive and increase everything that is deficient.
If we spend all of our time doing, we never get the chance to learn anything by observing others.
If we spend all of our time watching, we never gain the experience one gets from actually attempting to do something.
Balance is the key. Don’t be afraid to do. Don’t be afraid to watch.
The key phrase is “DON’T BE AFRAID.”
