The way I deal with my hunger is interesting. It's a technique I learned about 15 years ago when I used to weigh 367 pounds. I would simply pull out a picture of the food I wanted to eat. In this case, it was Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine packages from my freezer. I would look at the picture on the package; imagine what it tasted like; experience the taste in my mouth; then I would put the package back in the freezer without eating it and go back to bed.
I had to do this in the beginning, as I used to eat 2 or 3 meals between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM the next morning. After all, you don't get up to 367 pounds without working hard on it (grin).
As for the exercise, I would once again say ask your doctor. Personally, I have not been doing my normal exercise routine during my fast, BUT I do manage to get a little walking in each day. My wife and I spent 4 hours in the mall yesterday and I can promise you I walked more than a mile.
I wish you well and keep us informed as to your progress.

Sam RutherfordMon, 16 Jun 2008 14:32:38 +0000http://stanleybronstein.com/?p=195#comment-757As a result of your inspiring blog, today I am starting a juice fast to try to lose some weight. I am going to try it for 5 days (Mon-Friday). That said, I will take an evening meal of some fruits and veggies -- I am so afraid of not being able to sleep at night due to hunger. I was wondering how you deal with that or if it is even an issue. Also am wondering if I can continue to do my usual exercise routine of a 1 mile walk and some light weight lifting. Would appreciate your thoughts. I read the link on Fasting and it was very helpful to me. I am a 56 year old woman with an office job, so the exercise is pretty important to keep doing if possible.
