Current Status Report
Well, my past experience has continued to be true in the case of this current fast.
Day 2 hasn’t been fun. HOWEVER, on the bright side, the first 2 days of this fast have probably been easier than any fast I’ve done before.
This suggests to me 2 things:
- I’m in better shape, than I was before my previous fasts.
- If I’m lucky, the rest of this fast will prove to be a little easier than in the past.
Just as I did yesterday, I’ve managed to stay pretty busy, so that’s kept my mind off food, most of the day.
What Was The Hardest Part Of Day Two?
I went to Costco with my wife and we walked through the entire store. SEVERAL foods looked pretty good to me, especially some Italian food and some hummus with flat crackers. Yum, yum, yum.
The interesting thing I did was to sit there for a minute and just look at the food. By visualizing it, I was able to imagine in my mind what the food tasted like. I then pretended that I ate it and walked away “semi” satisfied.
What Are Some Of The Things I Did Today?
Sauna - I spent 2 nice, long sessions in the sauna and meditated in a very private environment.
Meditation - My meditation sessions were focused on asking the universe to help bring to me the opportunities needed to make my dreams come true. Like any good Achievement IQer (AIQer), I then told the universe that I have worked hard to develop the necessary vision to see these opportunities when they come. Additionally, I’ve positioned myself by putting many mechanisms in place so that I am ready to respond immediately when these opportunities come. I then promised the universe that when it brings these opportunities to me, I will act upon them promptly and in a proper manner.
Swimming - After both sauna sessions, I immediately jumped in the nice cool pool. That felt great. I then did a lot of stretching in the pool, as I’m able to stretch my achilles tendon much better when I’m in the pool. My dogs hung out by the pool with me.
Work - I actually did some work today too. Some of it was writing and some of it was legal work.
Why Am I Making This Public?
I’m making this whole thing public because it puts me on the spot. If I were to slip, it would be embarrasing to me. So, by putting myself on the spot, it increases the likelihood that I’ll stick to my guns.
What Did I Eat Today?
Nothing.
What Did I Drink Today?
Purified water. That’s it. Lots and lots of purified water.
How Do I Feel?
Generally, I feel pretty good. My stomach has been growling off and on today, but other than that, no headaches or such.
I’ve been hungry a good part of the day, BUT to be honest, I think the hunger is about 75% in my head. For example, I wasn’t that hungry until I saw all the food at the grocery store.
I’ve definitely been cold today, which is common when one fasts. The funny part is that it’s kinda hard to be cold when it’s 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside and the thermostat’s on 80 inside the house. An interesting side note about air conditioning in Arizona. When it’s 100 degrees outside, 80 inside the house feels cool in comparison. I’ve been told that your body generates heat as it digests food, SO, if it doesn’t have to digest any food, it’s not generating the heat.
What Are The Anticipated Benefits?
Healing my body. Paul C. Bragg, who was one of the great fasting experts during his life, describes it this way.
Your body has a certain amount of vital force. When you are fasting, your body is not having to use any of its vital force to digest your food. Instead, it can send it to the areas of your body that need it the most.
Additionally, our daily diets and even the air we breathe, puts vast amounts of toxins in our bodies. By drinking only purified water, I’m giving my body the chance to eliminate a large amount of these toxins.
Why Do We Sometimes Feel Bad During A Fast?
The discomfort one feels during a fast is the elimination of the toxins in our body.
Additionally, the hungrier one is during the fast, the higher the likelihood is that a fast was needed.
Making Life Changes
FIRST, I RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONSULT WITH YOUR OWN DOCTOR BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION, SUCH AS A FAST. I AM NOT A DOCTOR AND I AM NOT GIVING ANY MEDICAL ADVICE. IF YOU DECIDE TO FAST OR TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION, YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK, WHICH IS WHY I RECOMMEND YOU SPEAK WITH A MEDICAL DOCTOR BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION.
Once again, I’d like to remind our readers that this is NOT just my Vision Quest Project. It can be yours too. I’m not saying you need to fast, BUT if there is anything you want to work on, join us. You can lend me moral support and encouragement during my Vision Quest and our other readers (and myself), will lend you the moral support and encouragement during your Vision Quest.

You made it another day, good job! I too have found what I am doing to be easier this time around. I have quit smoking so many times, and my last quit was for almost a year. I’ve learned many ways to help myself. Not to say it’s been easy, just easier.
Today has probably been the hardest day for me so far. I would love more than anything to have a cup of coffee and a smoke right now, but I won’t.
I do have a couple questions for you. Is it safe to go so long without food, just drinking water? And do you do consult a physician before hand or check in with one while you fast?
I almost never check in with a doctor anymore when I quit smoking, I do it so often, but I know I probably should.
Continued good luck to you and thanks for the motivation.

Yes, one should consult with a physician. I couldn’t help but do that because of all the appointments I had with my doctor.
Also, I don’t have a set amount of days I’m looking for. I’m doing it day by day, in small chunks. If I feel I need to quit, I will.
ALSO, I want to say something Nancy. This is the LAST time you are going to quit smoking because you’re going to keep it up !!! I’m glad it’s been easier for you. Perhaps the universe is telling you something here !!!
