Universal Desire For A Common Goal – The ONE Missing Piece

by Stanley Bronstein on October 15, 2008

Desire Is The Starting Point Of All Achievement, Not A Hope, Not A Wish, But A Keen Pulsating Desire Which Transcends Everything.  (Napoleon Hill)

Desire – To wish or long for; crave; want.  To express a wish to obtain; ask for; request.  a longing or craving, as for something that brings satisfaction or enjoyment.

Starting – To commence; begin.  To set into motion, operation, or activity.

Transcends -  To rise above or go beyond; overpass; exceed.

These are some definitions I wanted to get “out of the way” before we proceed with this discussion.

Why Don’t We Have World Peace?

Because there is not a common desire, among world leaders, for world peace.

Too many world leaders believe that world peace is NOT in their best interest, as they would lose power if everyone’s needs were taken care of.

Why Do Too Many People In This World Go Hungry?

Because there is not a common desire, among world leaders, to feed the masses of starving people.

Too many world leaders believe that feeding the masses of starving people is NOT in their best interest, as they would lose control if everyone’s needs were taken care of.

Why Are We In The Midst Of A Global Economic Crisis?

Because THE PRIMARY DESIRE, of MOST of us is to protect our piece of the “economic pie.”

We are so afraid to help others, because we believe there is only so much to go around.   We believe (unfortunately), that the more we give away to others; the less there is for us.

Pardon My Grammar

I’m here to tell you that simply AIN’T SO . . .

Life Is NOT A Zero Sum Game

Zero Sum Game – This describes a situation in which a participant’s gain or loss is exactly balanced by the losses or gains of the other participant(s). If the total gains of the participants are added up, and the total losses are subtracted, they will sum to zero.

I wrote a post about this back on August 7, 2008, when I was discuss Sun Tzu’s The Art of War.

I’m here to say that Life is NOT a Zero Sum game.

Just because you win, it does NOT mean I’m going to lose.

Just because I win, it does NOT mean you are going to lose.

If we work together, we can BOTH win.

If we fight each other, we can BOTH lose.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer to win.  All it takes is a worldwide desire to make it so.

I agree, I see it not just in world leaders I see in the news, the tv shows etc. Most people are so concerned with the “what about me attitude” that they miss the part of coming together as a community. We can all make change but first we must change inside to effect change on the outside.

Matthew:

I’ve often heard that all it would take to unite the world would be for an alien spaceship to land and announce it’s presence . . .

It’s amazing how humankind would all of a sudden become one species (unfortunately all united against the aliens) .. . .

Well said my friend. In your book Achievement IQ Moments there a plenty of examples of why helping someone out who is less fortunate is an asset to those who have more to lose. Big companies taking chances on someone who is intelligent but not financially stable to gain formalized education. It really is all about seizing that chance to do the right thing. Too bad many miss the boat on this one and then so many end up losing out.

Sadly, these people live in the world of scarcity, when it is really a world of abundance. There is animosity when there is only one winner and many losers. With we just make a tiny mind shift of there is a winner and there are many learners, I’m sure many of the world’s problems will be reduced. Yes, when I win, it doesn’t mean you will lose out. A win-win relationship can be worked out with willing minds and open hearts.

Vivienne:

Honestly, I think the major problem in the world is NOT the people in it, IT’S THE LEADERS of the people in it.

I think when we get down on a personal level, most people just want to get along and be left alone.

World leaders have a different point of view.
