The Future

by Stanley Bronstein on March 10, 2010

Meditation for Wednesday – March 10, 2010

The Future Belongs To The Risk Takers, Not The Security Seekers.

Future – Time that is to be or come hereafter.  Something that will exist or happen in a time to come.

Belongs – To be the property of.  To be a part or adjunct of.

Risk – Exposure to the chance of injury or loss. A hazard or dangerous chance.

Takers – Those who hold, grasp or grip.  To get into one’s hands, possession or control.  Those who seize or capture.

Not – Used to express  negation, denial, refusal or prohibition.

Security – Freedom from danger or risk.  Freedom from care, anxiety or doubt.  Safety.

Seekers – Those who go in search or quest of.  Those who try to find or discover by searching or questioning.

So What Is Being Suggested Here?

Just as we suggested in yesterday’s meditation, this ties into the “philosophy” of No Guts; No Glory.

If you are interested in owning the future; in shaping the future, then you are going to have to take risk.

If you’re interested in taking it easy; then sit back and go after security.

There’s nothing wrong with “seeking” security, but I happen to believe the best way to gain security in our lives is to take control of our future and to shape it in our image.

Why?

All too often, people confuse action and inaction.  They assume that if one takes action, there will be stress involved.  Furthermore, they assume that if they sit back and go after security, there will be little or no stress involved.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way.

First, taking action does not always lead to stress.  If one chooses their area of activity well (i.e. they choose an area that they love and to which they are ideally suited), then the act of striving can actually be pleasing, not stressful.

Conversely, just because one sits back and avoids risk, it doesn’t mean they are going to avoid stress in their lives.  Sometimes they will, but sometimes they won’t.

Personally, I believe our goal should be to choose our areas of activity properly, so that we don’t mind putting out the effort necessary to achieve our desired future.

After all, if we achieve our desired future, we will not only be able to enjoy ourselves, but we can take great pleasure in helping others to do the same.

If you are looking for help in determining where your future lies and in what areas you should focus your attention, you may wish to consider reading either or both of my first two books:]

Find Purpose In Your LIFE and Achieve Massive Success

and

Find Purpose In Your CAREER and Achieve Massive Success

If you look to the right hand column of this screen, you will find links to the first 5 chapters or each of these books.  I hope you find them beneficial.
