Success Quote Of The Day – 03/31/2008
by Stanley Bronstein on March 31, 2008
I encountered the above formula in the most unexpected of places. I was in a hotel in downtown Cleveland while on the 2007 Achievement IQ driving tour. I went to the pizza restaurant next door to the hotel and saw that formula on the back of an employee’s shirt.
The only problem was that the shirt only showed the formula part, which is in black. It did NOT show the part that in red, which is necessary to explain the formula.
In any event, I asked the employee what it meant and she explained it to me. I was so impressed with this formula that I wrote it down on a piece of paper and stuck it in my computer bag. I came across it a few days ago and decided I wanted to share it with you.
Let’s get a few definitions out of the way before we analyze the formula.
Success – The attainment of wealth, position, honors or the like.
Attitude – Tendency or orientation, especially of the mind.
Participation – Taking or having a part or sharing in an activity or a project.
Opportunities – A situation or condition favorable for attainment of a goal.
Excuses – To make allowance for. To serve as justification for.
Let’s analyze the formula
Our ability to attain wealth, position, honors or the like is directly based upon how well we
(maintain a positive attitude and are willing to participate, 100% OF THE TIME, plus)
(the situations or conditions we encounter, or create, that are favorable for the attainment of our goals, minus
the justifications and allowances we make for our failures) to the 10 MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE AROUND YOU
Why I love this formula
It’s so simple. I’ve never encountered one thing that said it more clearly. I wish I knew who came up with this formula, but all my Google searches trying to find its author have turned up nothing.
Today’s Video
One person who knows success is Calvin F. Williams, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina. Calvin may be in his mid-twenties, but he has the number one trait I’ve encountered in successful people. He has the attitude it takes to overcome his limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are the number one killer of dreams. If we can learn how to belief we can do anything we set our mind to, then we’ll be able to do just that. Watch Calvin’s video below and you’ll see what I mean.
Calvin F. Williams, Jr. is one of the persons who will be featured in my upcoming book:

Until next time, take care.

You should have gotten the vendors name or website for the t-shirts.

Yes, that would have been a good thing to do.
Unfortunately, I was extremely tired and hungry as I had already driven 8 hours that day.
It never occurred to me to do that.

Hey mate,
The diagram was brilliant. I wish I could have invented it. It’s a great visual tool.
The only difference I would make with it… and how it represents excuses…
It shows excuses having a “minus” effect…..
My personal experience is that excuses have a dividing effect….
Like division in mathmatics….
One excuse, can not only take away from (subtract), but it can actually drasticly reduce all output…
The formula presented is like 100 -2 compared to 100 / 2.
I hope that makes sense. Excuses are hypnotic, and tend to place “the power” outside of you.
Have a kick arse day mate!

20/20:
Your explanation makes PERFECT sense. In fact, I agree with you. Excuses can really have a devastating impact on something, IF WE LET THEM.
Take care yourself.
