Success Quote Of The Day - 03/04/2008

One good thing about being young is that you are not experienced enough to know you cannot possibly do the things you are doing.– Gene Brown
Youth is typically thought of as the first or early period of just about anything. It can be the early period of a person’s life, or it can be the early period of an organization. This period is typically associated with freshness and vigor.
Experience is the general process of acquiring wisdom or knowledge gained from what one has observed, encountered or undergone. In my opinion, acquiring experience can be BOTH a good thing and a bad thing.
For example, after sticking your hand in a fire and learning that it burns, we gain the experience that we probably shouldn’t do that again. That is a good thing. However, we might have an initial experience that teaches us something is difficult or impossible to do. That might be a bad thing, as it would teach us that we shouldn’t bother to try something again, simply because it would be difficult or impossible to do, and consequently it would be a waste of time. That experience would serve to limit us.By virtue of being young, younger individuals (and organizations) have fewer experiences. That’s just a fact of life. So, as a consequence, they might be inspired to go ahead and try something daring, simply because they haven’t yet learned that it would be difficult or impossible to do. As a result, they might just accidentally pull it off. They may do what they were trying to accomplish, despite the fact it was difficult or impossible.
THAT is why I love working with young persons so much. They have a freshness of spirit that many older individuals lack. If you, the reader, are young, relish that freshness. If you, the reader, are older, remember back to the time when you were fresh and regain that freshness. Try something daring. Don’t be afraid. The worst thing that can happen is that someone will tell you no. AND, they just might tell you yes.
I experienced this when I set up my nationwide driving tour to interview persons for my upcoming book Achievement IQ Moments: 50 Stories of Powerful People Who Positioned Themselves to the Top. Many people around me told me that highly successful individuals would not be interested in allowing me to interview them. Nevertheless, I tried. And, to my great pleasure, a large number of the people I contacted were willing to allow me to interview them and to include them in my book. Had I followed conventional wisdom (and my experience), I might have been discouraged from even trying. Instead, because I tried, I wound up getting exactly what I asked for. That is the point I’m trying to make here.Be young, be daring, be fresh!
A perfect example of a young person pulling something off that others would not have even dared to try is Tina Wells, from Voorhees, NJ. Tina has previously been mentioned in this blog. She started a highly successful marketing research firm at the age of 18 years old and is now one of the leading market researchers in the entire United States. Check out her story by clicking on the video below.Tina Wells is one of the persons who wil be featured in my upcoming book:
Until next time, take care, my dear friends.Mr. Achievement
