Success Quote Of The Day – 03/21/2008

Mediocrity tends to draw downward what is up, but not upward what is down.

I feel so strongly about mediocrity, that I decided to talk about it 2 days in a row. Today I’m going to talk about how mediocre behavior affects this world.
Specifically, there is an all too disturbing trend in this world for mediocre behavior to be sensationalized. All too often, we turn on the news and all we hear about are the latest examples of mediocre behavior for movie stars, rock stars, politicians, etc. You name it, there are bad examples everywhere.
Why is this the case? It’s because negativity and mediocrity are quite often more interesting than positivity and excellence. I hate to admit it, but excellence is often boring (at least the masses perceive it that way). And since the news media is catering to the masses, we tend to see lots of stories about negativity and mediocrity in our news media.
My goal is to put a stop that that! That’s one of the reasons I wrote my upcoming book called Achievement IQ Moments. That book focuses on 50 POSITIVE stories of INCREDIBLY POWERFUL PEOPLE. I did my best to keep negativity and mediocrity out of the book. I strive to do that with all of my programs, blog entries, podcasts and books.
It’s one of the reasons I never became a litigator, as I did not want to work in an area of the law where I am either causing problems or dealing with the problems of others. Instead, I chose to be a transaction attorney where I have the opportunity to help people put deals together and to accomplish their goals. Personally, I find that much more rewarding.
One of the reasons I try to stay away from mediocrity is that it has a tendency to pull down all others around it. Chuck Vermillion, the CEO of OneNeckIT Services in Scottsdale, Arizona knows this. Earlier in his career, Chuck was faced with an incredible ethical dilemma at the company he was working for. His superiors were apparently engaged in mediocre behavior and Chuck had to decide what to do about it. I think you should watch his video below and see how he handled the situation.
Chuck Vermillion is one of the persons who wil be featured in my upcoming book:
50 Stories Of Powerful People
Who Positioned Themselves To The Top
Popularity: 4% [?]
Until next time, take care.
