We are all here for a spell; get all the good laughs you can.
– Will Rogers
Laughter is typically thought of as an expression of emotions, usually positive ones. Laughter can be used to express humor, to express fun, but also to express nervousness. This post is primarily about using laughter as a means to express humor and to have fun.
We all need to have fun. As many of you know, life can be very stressful, and laughter is a means used by many to reduce that stress. I have a saying in my office that I need to make everyone in the office laugh at least once per day. I find that doing so makes the office a much more enjoyable place to be.
One of the easiest ways to create laughter is by telling jokes. If that is what you need, click here to be taken to Laughter.com. That side is definitely good for a few chuckles.
One form of laughter is when we learn to laugh at ourselves. The very act of learning to see the humor in our actions reduces the stress in our lives. Also, it is much easier to laugh at ourselves than laugh at others. If we laugh at others, they may sometimes take offense. If we laugh at ourselves, people will usually laugh along with us.
While interviewing powerful people for my upcoming book, I had the chance to meet with a highly successful doctor in Hawaii named Jim Barahal. Jim is not only a successful doctor; he is also the driving force behind the growth of the Honolulu Marathon into one of the largest marathons in the world. Lastly, Jim Barahal is a comedian. You see, despite all the hard work he has done, he not only finds time to laugh, but he finds time to make others laugh too.
If you want to learn more about Jim, check out his video below. In this short clip, he tells you how he came to be affiliated with the Honolulu Marathon. There are even a few amusing anecdotes that make up his story.
If you want to view that portion of his interview, click on the image below.
