Success Quote Of The Day – 03/14/2008

by Stanley Bronstein on March 14, 2008

Justice is that virtue that assigns to every man his due.

– Saint Augustine

Justice is the principle of moral rightness. It consists of equity and balance. That’s why you so often will see the principle of justice being represented by a set of balanced scales. The act of being just, requires that we control our actions, in a manner that comports with the principles behind being morally right.

Saint Augustine’s quote above suggests that each and every one of us will ultimately get whatever we deserve. It is the principle of “justice” that is the actual process of that happening. Unfortunately, there is often too little justice in this world. People who never hurt anyone are made to suffer. People who step all over others get rich and live lives of comfort and excess. That’s just the way it works sometimes.

So, what does this all mean? It means that if you believe as Saint Augustine suggests (and I do), we should act appropriately, to make sure that we deserve for good things to happen to us and not bad ones. We must be fair to others. We must help others. And, we must do all of this with no expectation of getting anything in return. IF we receive something good in return, that is wonderful, but we have to constantly strive to do the morally right thing,

You have often heard of the concept of the “Golden Rule“. Do under others as you would have them do unto you.

Well, I’m about to introduce you to the concept of the Golden Rule in Reverse. The Golden Rule in Reverse is that you do unto others with no expectation of ever getting anything in return. You do something simply because it is the right thing to do.

Lynn May talks about that very concept in the short video clip shown below. Lynn is one of the persons I interviewed for my upcoming book:
