Still More Superior Thoughts For The Day

by Stanley Bronstein on October 7, 2008

My job is to keep giving you 5 superior ideas to think about.

Your job is to pick at least 1 of those 5 and do some heavy-duty thinking about it and to then share your thoughts with us as comments below.

1) Better To Ask For A Little Help In The Beginning, Rather Than Need A Lot In The End.

All too often, we are afraid to ask for help.  Often we worry about the consequences of asking.

Will we owe someone else a favor in return?  What will it cost me to get this help?

I want to ask two different questions . . .

  • What will happen if you don’t ask for the help?
  • What will it cost you if you don’t get the help?

My experience is that a little help in the beginning often avoids problems later on down the line.  So, don’t be afraid to ask for help and be nice enough to offer your help to others.  The world will be a better place as a result.

2) Accentuate The Positive.  Eliminate The Negative.

Ah !  What could be more powerful than being positive?  Perhaps the only thing that can compare with the power of being positive is THE POWER OF NOT BEING NEGATIVE.

That’s right.  Often the best way to be is positive is to SIMPLY NOT BE NEGATIVE.

3) When Your Heart Is Strong It Leads You On.  But When It Breaks You It Devastates You For So Long.

Your heart is often thought of as your center of emotion.  I also believe it is the heart of your strength; the heart of your power.  When your heart is in it, you’re in it.

Conversely, when your heart is broken; when you are burned out, it can mess you up for a long time.

Often, our heart is the source of our passion; hence it is the source of our power.

By being aware of this, one can gain a better understanding and help to overcome those “down” times and to have more “up” times.

4) No Guts; No Glory.

If we do not dare to be great, we will never be great (unless we are VERY lucky).  That’s just the way it works.

So many times in life we are faced with challenges and we can either give up or go forward.

The ones who refuse to give up and continue to go forward are usually the most successful.

We have to dare to be great.

5) Every Time You Avoid Getting Angry You Add Ten Minutes To Your Life.

This one is not always easy to work on.  Life constantly throws little things (or big things) at us that give us reason to be angry.

HOWEVER, one of the things I’m learning as I grow wiser (hopefully) is that the bigger the problem is, the calmer one should be in seeking a solution.

Those words sound great, but they’re not always easy to apply in practice.

Nevertheless, I plan to try.  Letting go of anger often requires forgiveness.  Forgiveness is easy to receive but not always easy to give.  We must try any way.
