Solving Problems

by Stanley Bronstein on March 8, 2010

Meditation for Monday – March 8, 2010

A Problem Well Stated Is A Problem Half Solved.

Problem – Any question or matter involving doubt, uncertainty, or difficulty.  A question proposed for solution or discussion.

Well – In a good or satisfactory manner.  Thoroughly, carefully, or soundly.  In a moral or proper manner.

Stated – Explicitly set forth.  Declared as fact.  Recognized.

Half – One of two equal or approximately equal parts of a divisible whole.

Solved – To have found the answer or explanation for.  Having worked out an answer or solution for.

So What Is Being Suggested Here?

The idea behind today’s meditation is simple.

Understanding the nature of a problem is a large part of solving that problem.

It’s also typically a necessary part of solving that problem.

Understanding Is The Key

Understand – To perceive the meaning of.  To apprehend clearly the character, nature or subtleties of.

If you  have a problem, seek first to understand it’s nature.  Seek to understand its subtleties.

If you do, you will find you’ve already got that problem at least halfway solved.
