Simple Pleasures

by Stanley Bronstein on March 13, 2010

Meditation for Saturday – March 13, 2010

Simple Pleasures Are The Hardest To Be Found.
They Can’t Be Measured Till They’re Not Around.

(Debbie Gibson)

Simple – Not elaborate or artificial.  Not ornate or luxurious.  Not complex.  Not complicated.  Ordinary or common.

Pleasures – Enjoyment or satisfaction derived from what is to one’s liking; gratification; delight.  A cause or source of enjoyment or delight.

Hardest – Difficult to do or accomplish.  Difficult or troublesome with respect to an action, situation, person, etc.  Difficult to deal with, manage, control, overcome or understand.

Found – Located, attained, or obtained by search or effort.  Recovered.  Discovered.  Gained.

Can’t – Unable to.

Measured – Ascertained or apportioned.  The act of determining the extent, dimensions or quantity of something.

Around – Somewhere near or about.  Nearby.

So What Is Being Suggested Here?

This quote suggests the importance of appreciating the simple things in life.

  • Fresh air
  • Flowers
  • A beautiful sunset
  • The people around us
  • The list goes on and on . . .

My Suggestion

It is so important that you find at least 30 minutes a day (more is better) where you are able to shut out all distractions and sit back, relax and appreciate the pleasures in your life.

All too often, we focus on the negative.  Negative things just “pop up” and make themselves known to us all the time.

Unfortunately, we have a tendency to not notice the positive things around us; the beautiful things around us.

You can change that and you can change that now.

All it takes is for you to set aside some time where you will intentionally focus on the simple pleasures in your life.
