Perseverence
by Stanley Bronstein on August 1, 2009During today’s daily walk, I listened to an interesting Audiobook that I’d like to share with you.
Keep Going: The Art of Perseverence by Joseph M. Marshall III.
The book detailed a story of a young boy and his grandfather from the perspective of a Lakota native american.
The book emphasizes the duality of life and how we would not appreciate good without bad, joy without sorrow, friendship without loneliness, etc.
I found it to be a very relaxing thing to listen to while I was taking a 3 hour walk on a beautiful Arizona afternoon.
There was much wisdom contained in the book and it was conveyed in a wise, calm manner.
While listening, I couldn’t help but appreciate the wise perspective of the Lakota grandfather, “Old Hawk” who was sharing wisdom about life with his grandson.
The reason I appreciated it so much is that one of the things I am striving for is to be calmer and more at peace as I proceed through life. While the grandfather had obviously lived a hard life, it was also one filled with great calm, peace and joy. Those are things I strive for daily.
I also loved the sharing of wisdom from the older generation to the younger generation. That topic ties in very nicely with the book I am currently writing, so it was definitely worthy of my time spent listening.
