Making Great Leaps

by Stanley Bronstein on March 21, 2010

Meditation for Sunday – March 21, 2010

You Can’t Leap A Chasm In Two Bounds.
(Tom Peters)

You – One; anyone; people ihttp://dictionary.reference.com/browse/loyaln general.

Can’t- Not able to.  Lacking the ability, power or skill.

Leap - To spring through the air from one point or position to another; jump.

Chasm- A breach or wide fissure in something.

Two – Two separate parts, as halves.

Bounds – A leap onward or upward.

So What Is Being Suggested Here?

Making a leap in one’s life is usually associated with an event where one takes a great stride forward or upward.

Helping ourselves to move forward and/or upward is one of the major reasons for this Daily Meditation Series.

One of the problems we encounter as we move forward is that we will often encounter a point of no return; a place where we can only go forward or upward (if we dare).

Those are the “chasms” in our lives.  Those are the breaches; the rifts.

When we reach these points, we have no choice but to either “go no further”, or to take a “great leap” and move forward.  Those are the points where halfway measures will not work.

When we reach those points in our lives, if we go halfway, we will fall into the chasm and possibly never recover.  When we reach those points, we have no choice but to go “all the way”; to make the “great leap.”

Questions For You

Think of times in your life when you’ve faced such chasms.  How did you react?

  • Did you make the great leap?
  • Did you go halfway and fall down the chasm?
  • Did you decide to not make the great leap because you were afraid?
  • How did it all turn out?

Think of your present situation.

  • Are you facing any chasms right now?
  • If so, how are you going to react to them?
