What’s The Difference Between Dependability, Reliability and Trustworthiness?

After all, I’ve already written Law #23 - Position Yourself To Be Dependable and on Law #82 - Position Yourself To Be Reliable. Why is there a need also for this Law #92 ?

They’re all very similar but they all have “slight” differences, which is why I included them as 3 laws.

Dependability has to do with always showing up. With always having your head in the game.

Reliability has to do more with consistency.

Trustworthiness talks about being worthy.

The bottom line is that we need to exhibit ALL 3 traits.

We need to:

  • Always show up (be dependable);
  • Always be consistent (be reliable); and
  • Always be worthy of the trust we engender (be trustworthy).

What Is This Quote Suggesting?

It talks about the need to develop sound judgment.  When you begin to develop sound judgment, a few things begin to happen.

  • You begin to trust yourself (in other words, you become worthy of your own trust);
  • As you begin to trust yourself, you begin to trust yourself more (your trust builds upon itself);
  • Other people will begin to recognize your sound judgment and as a consequence, they will begin to trust you more and more.

In short, you will become known (both to yourself and to others), as a trustworthy person of sound judgment who is dependable, reliable and trustworthy.

In other words, you will become known for having all 3 qualities.

Until next time, take care, my dear friends.
