What Is This Quote Suggesting?

It is suggesting several things:

  • We have to enjoy TODAY, as TODAY is the only day we can be sure of. Tomorrow may come, or it may not, but today is already here, so we might as well enjoy it.
  • We have to make the most out of today, out of each and every day.
  • The way to make the most out of each day is to get interested in something. Devote our attention to something. Become curious about something. We need something to draw our attention and to keep our attention focused.
  • Don’t go through life being asleep. Wake yourself up. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Don’t let life just pass you by.
  • Find something in your life that interests you, a hobby perhaps, and devote a large amount of your time and energy to it. As human beings, we all need to have a purpose. You need to find yours and devote time and energy to it.
  • Become enthusiastic about whatever it is that you are doing. Don’t do things halfway. Devote your energy to it fully. Become passionate about whatever it is that you choose to do. That’s what enthusiasm is all about.
  • Live today, and each and every day with passion / gusto. Enjoy every day. Enjoy it for what’s good about it and enjoy it for what’s bad about it. It is today and it’s the only day you can be sure that you’re going to have. Enjoy it fully. Don’t let is just pass you by, for it would be a day lost and an opportunity missed.

So What Interests You?

That is something only you can decide.  I can make suggestions, I can ask questions.  But, the bottom line is what are you passionate about?  What makes you happy?  What gets you excited?  What type of activity comes to you so naturally that you ENJOY spending hours and hours and hours immersed in it.

That’s where you interest lies.  All of us have one or more areas of interest.  The trick is to listen to ourselves; to become conscious of what interests us; and then to develop our lives around that area of interest.

Just think about it, if all of us were able to work in areas that interested us, wouldn’t life be a lot more interesting?  Wouldn’t each and every one of us enjoy our work a lot more?

So, I ask you, what interests you?

That’s is what you will be enthusiastic about.  That is where you can accomplish the most good in this world.

Becoming Interested In Others

Here’s another Dale Carnegie quote I want you to consider:

You can make more friends in two months by becoming more interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you.

That is the secret to life itself.  IF you become interested in others, everyone will want to be your friend.  And that, my friend, is how you get people interested in you.  Like so many things in life, you have to reach out first.  You have to become interested in someone else before they are going to become interested in you.

Thank you very much for your words of wisdom, Mr. Carnegie.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you Stumble It!
Until next time, take care, my dear friends.
