What Does This Quote Suggest?

It means we have to put our money where our mouth is.  I’m sure you’ve often heard the phrase “lofty intentions.”  To mean lofty intentions are  expressed attitudes that achieve something grand; to achieve something wonderful.  These intentions are placed up on a high level.

BUT, it is only when we allow them to “degenerate”; when we bring them down a notch that they become real.

Peter Drucker suggests that these lofty intentions need to degenerate into “hard work” in order for things to begin happening.

Hard work is essentially “rolling up one’s sleeves” and getting to work.

For example, I can say that it is my goal to help be an agent for change, a person who helps make the world a better place.  That’s fine, there is nothing wrong with that.  BUT UNTIL I ROLL UP MY SLEEVES AND GET TO WORK, nothing is going to happen.  That’s what Peter Drucker is talking about in the above quote.

The Law of Attraction vs. The Laws of Positioning and Achievement IQ

That’s one of the problems I have with the Law of Attraction.  It’s fine and dandy to “manifest” and “attract” good things into our life.  I don’t have a problem with that and in fact I believe in that.

HOWEVER, UNLESS WE SEE THESE OPPORTUNITIES; UNLESS WE’RE READY TO ACT UPON THEM; UNLESS WE ACTUALLY DO ACT UPON THEM AND PUT IN THE NECESSARY HARD WORK, NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

To me, that’s where the Law of Attraction falls flat and the Laws of Positioning and Achievement IQ picks up.

Anyone who has been following this blog knows that Achievement IQ is a measure of how well a person sees opportunities others do not see (VISION), attracts opportunities others do not attract (ATTRACTION), positions themselves to be ready to act upon opportunities when they come their way (READINESS) and then actually acts upon them when they do come (ACTION).

The Law of Attraction is only one piece of the puzzle.  Parts 3 (READINESS) and 4 (ACTION) require lots and lots and lots of hard work.

By positioning yourself to be hardworking, you are showing the universe that you are ready to act and willing to act when it sends opportunity your way.  Position yourself to be hardworking and you will find, that more opportunities come your way than you could have possibly imagined.

Or as Abraham Lincoln said:  The reward for work well done is more work.

Until next time, take care, my dear friends.

One of the lessons that my dad taught me is ‘there is no substitute for hard work’. It is with sheer hard work that he brought our family from poverty (I was born in a hut and at that time, we didn’t know if we will have our next meal; and I lost my brother at the age of 1 because we didn’t have enough money for medical expenses). He would add - not just work hard but work smart too.

Joseph:

“Hard Smart” is what my dad used to call common sense. My Dad only had a 5th grade education but was smarter in a lot of other ways.

I suspect your dad was the same way. It’s a shame you didn’t have a chance to really get to know your brother.

Take care.

I write about LOA from a Jewish mystical perspective (Kabbalah), and one of the things I’ve always said is that the LOA is lacking an emphasis on action. My model takes people through a construct based on how the Kabbalists believed the world was created and one of the stages equates to the world of ACTION! In fact, before they get to the world of action, they feel the desire to take action in the world of Feeling. So, they get inspired to take action and then they clearly define what actions they have to take to help bring their desire into the world. Yes, sometimes we can think and feel and miraculously “attract” something into our lives, but more often than not we need to add action to that equation. We have to do something (or take advantage of an opportunity we create) to bring it into the physical world. I wonder how many people read The Secret and are just sitting at home thinking and feeling and wondering how come nothing is happening? If they don’t open their eyes, they’ll never see the opportunities they have created, and if they don’t get up and take some action, they’ll never actually see their desire manifest. We do, after all, live in a physical world where doing something tends to get something…

Nina:

You’re preaching to the choir here. I agree with you 100% !!!

If we don’t see opportunities; if we don’t position ourselves to be ready to act upon them; and if we don’t act upon them, then those opportunities are meaningless.

You my friend are wise enough to already know that. That’s why I love having people like you around.

Please stick around and I would love to know your thoughts as I write more of the posts on the Laws of Positioning in the near future.

Take care.
