Position Yourself To Be Focused
It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny. (Anthony Robbins)

Focusing Is Just Intense Concentration
As I’m writing this post, I’m sitting in front of my laptop with my headphones on. Through the headphones, I’m listening to one of my favorite subliminal programs. It’s called Improve Your Concentration by a company named Audio Activation. I used to listen to the cassette version of it over 10 years ago, but my cassette finally wore out.
Fortunately, about 2 weeks ago, after much diligence, I found a used copy of it on Amazon.com and $5.00 later I now have a fresh copy of that cassette, which was made back in the mid 1980’s. This time I made a digital copy of it, so it’s not going to wear out on me.
I love it because it is about 30 minutes long and when I play it, my mind immediately falls into the “zone” and I’m able to focus on whatever I want for the next 30 minutes. I’m able to shut out virtually all distractions during that period.
I’ve found that in those short periods of intense concentration, I’m able to get more work done than I might during a much longer period. Personally, I believe that I can do 2 hours work in 30 minutes, IF I’m intensely focused.
I believe you can do the same thing.
How Can YOU Improve YOUR Focus?
Simply by finding a way to shut out distractions. What works for me may not work for you. What works for you may not work for someone else. You have to find your own way to shut out distractions.
Think for a few minutes. Ask yourself, what are some of the moments in your life when you “zone out” and you lose all track of time? What were you doing at that moment? That is an example of an activity that enables you to shut out distractions.
For some people, it may be shutting off the phone and meditating. For others it may be an intense workout. It may be listening to music. It can be virtually anything. I can’t tell you what that activity is, BUT YOU HAVE THE POWER TO FIGURE IT OUT FOR YOURSELF!
The main thing is to find a way to shut out distractions. If you can do that, you will bring the power of focus into your life.
What Should You Focus ON?
You should focus on what is most important to you. What activities are most likely going to help you accomplish your goals, if you were to focus your attention on them.
That’s really what the quote is suggesting isn’t it. It’s suggesting that your past is less important than the now. Your past is just that, the past. The only value you can get from the past is that it has shaped you into the person you are today. You are the sum of your previous experiences. Learn from them, but don’t dwell on them.
Instead, figure out what your purpose is. Many of my blog postings focus on finding your purpose in life and if you really want to examine it in more detail, you should take a look at my first book:
Achievement IQ: Find Purpose In Your LIFE & Achieve Massive Success
It is a workbook. I ask you many important, life changing questions and you have the chance to answer them as only you can. After all, I can’t tell you what your purpose in life is. No one can (although many may try to do so). You have to figure that out for yourself.
You can order hard copies or electronic copies (they’re less expensive) by clicking on the link above.
Once you know what your purpose in life is, and once you’ve figured out your favorite method(s) for zoning out / concentrating, you should spend at least one hour a day doing just that. You should spend at least one hour a day focusing on whatever it is that will help you achieve your goals; whatever will help you fulfill your life’s purpose.
For example, my purpose in life is to help you find your purpose in life and achieve it. That’s what I’m about and that’s what makes me happy. That is where my passion lies.
An Example From My Life
Today is a lovely Saturday. It’s a little hot outside (it’s going to be 114 degrees today and it’s currently 103 degrees. Despite that, I’m sure I could find something fun to do.
BUT, guess what? The fun thing I have chosen to do today is to sit inside a nice quiet room in one of my favorite libraries and focus on my writing. I have my headphones on playing my subliminal concentration music. By writing, I am putting all the mechanisms in place that I need to have for the next few months. AND because all of these activities are in furtherance of my purpose in life, I’m having fun!
Go have some fun today !!!
Until next time, take care, my dear friends.Mr. Achievement

Great post! It just kind of clarified what I already knew, but don’t always realize. Now, whenever I need to get something done, I’ll remember to go to that “place,” physical or mental, where I am the most focused. Thanks!

Thanks mousewords:
You illustrated a GREAT point with your comment. You already knew, deep down inside you, what I was saying. All you have to do is become conscious of it.
You are now conscious. Go out and conquer the world.
