Position Yourself To Be Ambitious
Ambitious - eagerly desirous of achieving or obtaining success, power, wealth, a specific goal
Now that we have defined the word ambitious, I ask you a simple question. Are you now, or have you ever been ambitious? Do you think ambition is a good thing or a bad thing? Your answer to the second question will probably go a long way toward answer the first one.
The famous author, Fredric Lehrman, authored an idea known as Prosperity Consciousness. Lehrman suggested that being prosperous is not, in and of itself a problem, it is being prosperous and misusing that prosperity that can result in problems. Lehrman also suggested that the primary reason why people do not become prosperous is that inherently, they believe prosperity (and money) is evil. They were raised to believe, that rich people were bad and that poor people / ordinary people were good. I would like to suggest something different.
I am suggesting that prosperity (and the ambition it takes to get there) is a good thing, PROVIDED the results of that prosperity are used for good purposes. In other words, it’s okay to become rich and to live a good life, IF you take a portion of that money and prosperity and use it to help others. THAT is the key. THAT is what I believe.
So, I ask you again, is prosperity a good thing or a bad thing? I’m suggesting that prosperity is a good thing if the prosperous individuals use their prosperity to benefit society. I’m also suggesting that prosperity is a bad thing if the prosperous individuals use their prosperity to benefit only themselves and do not do anything to help society (or even worse, hurt society).
So now, I ask you, are you ambitious? I know I am. Personally, I have tons of ideas and goals that I would like to see implemented. I also would like to personally benefit from the implementation of all those ideas and goals (which is also fine, up to a point). However, I also would like to take a part of that prosperity and use it to help others! That is what makes it okay to be ambitious!
With all that said and done, do you now feel it is okay to be ambitious? I certainly hope so.
One person whom I recently met who is incredibly ambitious (despite only being 24 years old) is Calvin F. Williams, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina. Calvin has already accomplished quite a bit in his young life and he has tremendous plans to do a heck of a lot more. BUT, he also talks about how he wants to use a portion of that prosperity to help others. That is the key!
If you want to listen to Calvin talk about this, check out his video by clicking on it below.
