Law #102 – Position Yourself To Be Relaxed
Every So Often, Pull Down Your Pants And Slide On The Ice (From an Episode of the TV Series M.A.S.H.)
What Is The Quote Suggesting
To me, this quote suggests that, every so often, we should just “let go.” We should forget about our cares; we should forget about our worries; we should do something that’s a “little bit” crazy – just because it’s fun.
In other words, we should simply relax.
What Is Relaxation?
Relaxation – Abatement or relief from bodily or mental work, effort or application. An activity or recreation that provides such relief; diversion; entertainment. A dimunition or remission of strictness or severity.
Relaxation is, quite simply, letting go. It is deciding, for a length of time, to not let anything bother us.
What’s The Opposite Of Relaxation?
I believe the opposite of being in a state of relaxation is being in a constant state of tenseness.
Tense – In a state of mental or nervous strain; high-strung; taut. Characterized by a strain upon the nerves or feelings.
So, in reality, learning to become relaxed is learning how to let go of tension.
What Are Some Ways To Let Go Of Tension In Our Lives?
The easiest way to let go of tension in our lives is to let go of our negative emotions.
- Letting go of anger;
- Letting go of fear;
- Letting go of feelings of inferiority;
- Letting go of resentment;
- Letting go of our inhibitions;
- Letting go of feelings of powerlessness;
- Letting go of feelings of loneliness;
- Letting go of feelings of rejection;
- Letting go of our skepticism; and so much more
This Takes Constant Work
It’s funny that I’m about to say this, but in order to learn how to be relaxed, we must constantly work at it.
That almost sounds hypocritical. Constantly working in order to learn how to be free from strain.
But, that’s the way it works. For those of us who are the most uptight; the ones under the most strain, we must work at simply letting go of this strain in order to learn how to relax.
It seems a little bit ridiculous, but it’s true.
