Introduction - What Is The Art Of War?

INTRODUCTION
The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise that is composed of 13 chapters.
While there are many translations of this work from the original Chinese to multiple languages, I am going to be working from the “Denma” translation into English.
According to that translation, the 13 chapters are titled:
- Appraisals
- Doing Battle
- Strategy of Attack
- Form
- Shih (abstract knowledge, insight and skills that look for patterns)
- The Solid and Empty
- The Army Contending
- The Nine Transformations
- Moving the Army
- Forms of the Earth
- The Nine Grounds
- Attack by Fire
- Employing Spies
The Art of War emphasizes conquering without aggression. It emphasizes that victory is more important than war. If you can win, without waging war, so much the better.
While the original treatise was designed for military strategy, readers will find that the knowledge and wisdom imparted within this work applies equally to one’s business and personal life.
Quite simply, The Art of War contains beautiful and elegant strategy that is useful everywhere.
Starting with our next post, we are going to begin delving into the concepts and strategies contained in this magnificent work.
Until next time, take care, my dear friends.Mr. Achievement

As a major part of Chinese history, the Art of War has always fascinated me. I look forward to your discussions of each chapter.
