Even More Superior Things To Think About

by Stanley Bronstein on September 25, 2008

My job is to give you 5 superior things to think about.

Your job is to pick at least 1 of those 5 and do some heavy-duty thinking about it and to then share your thoughts with us as comments below.

1) Organization Is Bliss.

Isn’t being organized wonderful?

  • Being organized saves you time.
  • Being organized saves you money.
  • Being organized gives you a feeling of power; a feeling of control over your situation.
  • Being organized puts you in a better position to handle problems that may come your way.

The only problem is that getting organized, takes time and effort in the beginning.  Furthermore, some people’s thought processes don’t seem to necessarily be lined up for being organized.

My thoughts:  While I believe being organized is the way to go, ultimately you have to do what works best for you.

The best way to be organized is put systems in place that allow us to repeat common tasks; that allow us to be consistent in what we do.

2) Knowledge Is Not Power, But Potential Power.

Just because you are knowledgeable, it does not guaranty that you will always know what to do.

Knowledge is merely one tool, OUT OF MANY, that we need to add to our toolbox as we go through our lives and our careers.

By having knowledge, we once again put ourselves in a better position to deal with everything that life throws at us.  Learn something daily.  Make sure your children and those around you learn something daily.  The world would be a better place as a result.

3) The Ability To Motivate Yourself And Others To Achieve Is A Rare And Valuable Skill.

A wise leader is able to create subordinates who would follow them anywhere.  How does one do that?

The answer is by getting EVERYONE TO BUY INTO THE PROGRAM.

THE LEADERS AND THE FOLLOWERS SHARE EQUALLY IN THE SUCCESS (or failure) OF THE PROGRAM.

If you are able to show a person why it is in their best interest to do something, most times they will do it.

It is that simple.

4) To Become More Efficient, Break Down A Process Into Its Most Basic Steps, Analyze, Memorize And Then Teach These Steps, By Repetition, To Yourself And Others.

This mantra is simply a time tested formula for become better; for becoming for efficient.  This ties in with Quote #1 above.

Being more efficient, being more organized, it allows us to do so much more in our lives.  I know that if I were NOT organized, I wouldn’t be able to do a TENTH as much as I do every day.

That is the power of the personal computer.  Personal computers have allowed many people, like me, to become incredibly efficient, thus more powerful.

However, here’s the funny part, I still think we can do much better.

BUT, if you remember my thoughts about perfectionism yesterday, we should strive to get better, BUT not bear ourselves over the head when we don’t quite get there.

Becoming more efficient requires persistence.  We must constantly strive to be better.

5) No Process Is Completed Faster Than The Speed Of Its Slowest Component.

Efficiency, timeliness, organization - anything that can speed things up, seems to be the topic of today’s conversation.

Many years ago, one of my doctor friends introduced me to an interesting concept.

THE RATE LIMITING STEP

Basically, the “rate limiting step” is a scientific way to say that no process can be completed faster than it’s slowest part.

The slowest part is what controls how fast you can go.

So what am I suggesting?   I’m suggesting that if you want to speed things up, FIGURE OUT WHAT IS THE SLOWEST PART AND CHANGE IT.

That’s what the Laws of Positioning are all about.  IF YOU”RE SITTING BACK WAITING, THE WORLD WILL MOVE RIGHT ON PAST YOU - AT WARP SPEED.

What Do You Think?

What do you think about these thoughts? Inquiring minds want to know.

If you enjoyed this post, make sure you Stumble It!
Until next time, take care, my dear friends.

Knowledge is not power because if you don’t act, knowledge just nourishes the brain. Action is power.

Viviene:

You are 100% correct. That is why KNOWLEDGE IS POTENTIAL POWER.

As you put it, it nourishes the brain. HOW YOU ACT UPON IT, determines just how powerful you are.

This is an empowering post. Setting up systems ensures that ordinary people can do extraordinary work. It’s a way to speed up performance and encourage participation. This is a page to keep referring to. Thanks for the work.
