Is Energy Force Or Power?

Energy is raw power. It is what gives us the strength, the power, the drive to do whatever it is that we want to do. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It simply changes form. To a physicist, energy is a force. To a philosopher, energy is power. In reality, they are both the same thing.

A Physicist’s View As Opposed To That Of A Metaphysicist

A physicist is a scientist who specializes in physics. Physics is the science that deals with matter, energy, motion, and force.

A metaphysicist is a person who creates or develops metaphysical theories. Metaphysics is the underlying theoretical principles of a subject or field of inquiry.

So, What Exactly Is Energy?

Energy is the ability to act, lead others, effect, etc., forcefully. The habit of vigorous activity; vigor as a characteristic. It is a renewable resource. It is also a depletable resource. Your energy levels can rise and your energy levels can drop In fact, that is what they usually do. Your energy levels rarely remain constant.

Short-Term Energy Levels Vs. Long-Term Energy Levels

When we awaken from a good nights sleep, we should be filled with energy to accomplish our daily goals. We take in food and our body converts that to energy to keep running. At night, we go back to sleep to allow our body’s energy levels to be refreshed. That is a typical daily cycle.

Over a longer period of time, we may find that our energy level can rise or fall over time. If it falls, it may be because over time, you are expending more energy than you are renewing. This can happen when we work really hard on a particular task or project. It can occur during tough periods of our lives when stress is draining our energy from us. When our energy levels sink low enough, we reach a mental state that is often referred to as “burn out.”

What Do We Do When We Reach Burn Out?

You can either give up, work despite the burn out, or take a rest.

If you give up, you will not accomplish your goals. That would be bad.

If you work despite the burn out, you may still accomplish your goals, but your energy levels will continue to deplete.

If you rest, you give your body and your mind a chance to renew itself. Then, once you have regained your former, higher levels of energy, you will be able to return to your task and accomplish your goals.

My recommendation is that, IF CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW, it is always good to rest up a little bit and allow our energy levels to be renewed. Why is that?

Here’s a simple example. Say you are really tired and your energy levels are down to only 50% of normal. You might still be able to work, but because you are so burned out, you may not even be able to do 50% of a typical day’s work. Conversely, if you take a few days off, your energy levels may be restored and you discover that you can do 125% of a typical day’s work. You are able to do extra work because your energy levels are so high.

One Big Thing That Can Deplete Our Energy

I believe the biggest thing that can deplete your energy is being involved in activities that are inconsistent with your passions. By that, I’m suggesting that it is best if we are able to incorporate activities in our lives that are consistent with our goals and passions. When we are passionate; when we love what we do; our energy levels are naturally higher. When we despite what we do, our energy levels will drop.
