AIQ Career – Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Taking Risks

You Have To Risk Losing If You Want To Win
(Author Unknown)

Many people avoid taking risks in their lives because they fear that something bad might happen as a result. Unfortunately, their unwillingness to take risks causes them to miss out on many opportunities.

I would like to suggest an alternative. Rather than avoiding risks altogether, one should simply avoid taking bad, stupid, and/or unnecessary risks. From a positive point of view, I am suggesting that one should instead take GOOD, SMART, and/or NECESSARY risks.

What are some of the risks you have avoided taking in your life or your career? Would those risks, if taken, have been good, smart, and/or necessary risks, or would they have been bad, stupid, and/or unnecessary ones? Please write your answers below.
